SCBA Membership
Thank you for your interest in the Solano County Bar Association. We have 2 types of memberships; Regular Membership and Barristers Membership. If at least half of your practice is criminal defense, we invite you to join the SCBA Barristers. Regular Membership:
Regular membership offers important opportunities for professional education and development, as well as various member benefits. Membership in the SCBA demonstrates support for the core values of our legal system “Equal justice for all through equal access to an independent judicial system”.
Barristers:
Many years ago, a group of private criminal defense attorneys met over lunch to discuss issues relevant to the private defense bar and the need for a voice in court policy making. This informal gathering led to the formation of the Barristers. The Barristers meet monthly to discuss current issues in the courts, topics of interest, and for educational programs. Representatives of the Barristers attend court Criminal Justice Quarterly meetings and other meetings with the government sector to provide private sector input into proposed changes affecting the criminal courts. The Barristers is open to any Solano County attorney whose practice is majority criminal defense.
Family Law:
The Family Law Committee of SCBA is currently chaired by Shannon Elms, Esg. The FLC periodically meets for brown bag lunches in the jury assembly room in Fairfield to discuss issues specific to and related to the practice of family law. Additionally, the FLC co-sponsors CLE events which may be of interest to family law practitioners. Contact:
